We've known it for more than a year, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are official.

The 32-year old British royal and Suits star made their public debut as a couple in Toronto to watch wheelchair tennis during the Invictus Games.

The games, which is a Paralympic-style event for injured veterans, had been tipped as the place which would elevate their private relationship to a more public level for sentimental and practical reasons.

They first met early last year through the games and Markle in based in the Canadian city, where she films Suits.

The couple looked at ease with their first official public appearance, arriving hand in hand and beaming for photographers as they made their way to the venue. The 38-year-old actress brought her signature low-key style in a pair of skinny jeans, an oversized white blouse and camel leather tote. They were spotted chatting in between breaks at the game on Monday afternoon.

Meghan made her first royal appearance at Saturday night's launch of the games, sitting separately from her royal other half, who was seated in a VIP box with US First Lady Melanie Trump. The couple have been photographed by paparazzi on a handful of occasions this year, but the decision to go public now has fuelled speculation of another royal wedding.

Earlier this month, Markle appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair to open up about her relationship.

“We’re a couple. We’re in love,” she  said. “I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.

"It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
