Pregnant Beyonce poses nude and cradles her baby bump in photo series
Nobody does pregnancy announcements like Beyonce.
Hours after breaking the record for the most liked picture ever on Instagram when she revealed she is expecting twins with husband Jay-Z, she went and outdid herself with a lavish photoshoot.
The expectant mother shared the series of images in which she poses in nude or in underwear to cradle her growing baby bump on her website with the caption, "I have three hearts."
The 35-year-old shared the images with her five-year-old daughter along with a number of poems, including the line: "Mother is a cocoon where cells spark, limbs form... Mother swells and stretches to protect her child, mother has one foot in this world and one foot in the next, mother, black venus."
"Girl turning into woman, woman turning into mother, mother turning into venus," accompanied the images inspired by the Birth of Venus by Botticelli.
The Lemonade singer reportedly wanted to announce the twins' pending arrival before the Grammys later this month. She announced she was pregnant with Blue Ivy at the MTV VMAs in 2011.
"She announced it this way before Grammy fittings and rehearsals, as she knew it would get out. She couldn't repeat the same debut on the show like the VMAs and didn't want it to take away from her Grammy wins and performance," an insider told Us Weekly.
The pregnancy news comes less than a year after the couple, who wed in 2008, was dogged by rumours of an impending divorce, after Beyonce released her groundbreaking album and accompanying short film Lemonade, which detailed a relationship's ups and downs.
Many believed the emotional journey, about a cheating lover and a couple's subsequent reconciliation, was about the stars' own marriage, but the pair has never publicly addressed the speculation.
Jay Z and Beyonce have been eager to expand their family for some time. After the 2012 birth of Blue Ivy, the rapper revealed the couple had previously suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage, and Beyonce went on to open up about their family plans in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
She explained, "I definitely want another child... It was important for me to do what I love and I love to perform and I love to make music, so I wanted to have my daughter and see if I was still as passionate.
"Maybe after this next tour I'll maybe have another baby."
