'Our amazing children are our number one priority' - TV presenter Davina McCall (50) splits from husband after 17 years
Davina McCall is splitting from husband Matthew Robertson after 17 years of marriage.
The TV presenter, 50, said the couple's "amazing children" were their priority during a "difficult time", in a statement confirming the news.
"I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated," she added.
She added: "Our amazing children are our number one priority, above everything else so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time."
McCall has two daughters, Holly and Tilly, and a son named Chester, with TV presenter Robertson who she wed in June 2000.
Their wedding was attended by the likes of TV presenter Gabby Roslin, comedian Julian Clary and radio DJ Dale Winton.
Three years after they were married, the couple were attending counselling.
Davina said later: "It was the best thing we've done. I've recommended it to a lot of friends."
In June 2015, the pair jetted off to Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows - with both of them wearing white shorts, tshirts and casual footwear.
She told her Instagram followers at the time that the ceremony was more emotional than she expected as the pair let their three kids write the wedding vows.
Previously she told OK! magazine: “After the Sport Relief Challenge (in 2014) was difficult for me; I wanted to tell people that Matthew and I had been struggling because he had been dealing with his father’s illness, but of course I couldn’t talk about that because his dad wasn’t in the public eye.
“What I love is that it doesn’t matter what issues Matthew and I have, the very root of our relationship is that I am going to grow old with that man. We are meant to be together.”
Earlier this year, Davina also opened up about the marriage counselling, saying that every relationship has sticking blocks.
'We had the same row. It might have been about different things but it would be about the same thing and it would get to the same point and I thought, "we're never going to get past this particular row…"'
'People have sticking blocks in their relationship and they get stuck at the same point… It worked brilliantly.'
Last year the former Big Brother host confirmed all three of her children have September birthdays because she did not want to miss hosting the reality TV programme.
She said: "I love Big Brother so much and the idea of someone else presenting it was 'over my dead body'. So I said to Matthew, 'we are not trying for a baby until after December'. So there we are, three birthdays in December."
McCall presented the reality show for its 11 series run on Channel 4 between 2000 and 2010, as well as Celebrity Big Brother between 2001 and 2010.
She was previously married to actor Andrew Leggett.
Three days ago, Davina shared a quote on Facebook, saying "I really know about this one... I have made so many mistakes in my life ... but there is always a new day":
