Nicole Scherzinger 'devastated' over Lewis Hamilton split: 'It was the hardest decision we had to make'
Nicole Scherzinger has admitted she is “devastated” over her break-up with Lewis Hamilton.
Earlier this week it was widely reported the singer ended her tumultuous seven-year relationship with the 30-year-old Formula one race car driver.
And Nicole confirms the decision to call it quits was extremely tough for the both of them.
“I’m devastated that it didn’t work out. It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together,” she told British newspaper The Sun.
Nicole is attempting to remain positive about her newly single status.
She still has a lot of feelings for Lewis, but thinks it’s best they remain friends.
“I love Lewis and I know he loves me,” Nicole shared.
“We wish nothing but happiness and the very best for one another. I’m trying to stay strong in my faith right now.”
The Sun previously reported the pair, who were on and off throughout their romance since they first started dating in 2007, got into a “series of explosive rows” over the Christmas holidays which resulted in their split.
Apparently 36-year-old Nicole’s eagerness to have a family didn’t sit well with Lewis.
Also, it’s claimed their extremely hectic professional schedules contributed to the parting.
“Nicole obviously wants to settle down at some point soon so she couldn’t waste her time if Lewis was at all uncertain. But they spend so much time apart that things just became untenable,” the insider revealed.
Former Pussycat Dolls star Nicole is currently in the UK wrapping up her stint as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famed musical Cats.
And the star recently told The Telegraph of her plans to have kids within the next ten years, but she didn’t mention Lewis.
“Oh yeah, I’ll definitely have that by then. I’ll definitely have that. Definitely, that would be nice…” she smiled as she pictured her future as a mother.
