Nicole Richie slams eating disorder rumours as magazine 'reveals' sunflower seed diet
Nicole Richie has dismissed rumours that she is struggling with an eating disorder after a magazine revealed her diet consists of ‘sunflower seeds and chewing gum’.
The reality TV star and fashion designer has reportedly shrunk to 39.9kg as her daily diet consists of sunflower seeds, juices, chewing gum and celery, US magazine Star reports.
The 32-year-old shared a snapshot of her posing with fashion designer Antonio Berardi at his dinner party on Tuesday night.
Richie wore a silk waistcoat with an on-trend panelled skirt to the event. She completed her look with a thick collar neck-piece.
A source told the American magazine Nicole has been eating less since her husband Joel Madden has started travelling more with work.
"Joel has always tried to keep tight tabs on her diet, but since he's gone so often, no one's ever really sure how much she's eating anymore," the source said.
"He is extremely worried about her. He tells her that she needs to focus on her health for the sake of the children [Harlow, five, and Sparrow, four] because they need their mother.
But the former reality TV star’s friends have insisted she is ‘healthy’.
Nicole spoke out in 2010 about her thin frame and said it was ‘insulting’ for people to suggest she is ill.
"I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don't. It's extremely insulting and irresponsible. An eating disorder is serious and it's a disease," she told Marie Claire magazine.
