Nicola Hughes finally opens up about her 'very normal' boyfriend Charlie Tupper
Nicola Hughes has spoken about reuniting with boyfriend Charlie Tupper, after the pair went on a break in recent months.
The Sandyford woman (27) was a regular on E4 reality series Made In Chelsea while she was dating main cast member Alex Mytton.
It wasn’t meant to be, though, and they called it quits a year ago.
Nicola and Alex have kept in touch since, and it was her former boyfriend who introduced her to Englishman Charlie.
“Charlie isn’t in the reality world. He’s a very normal guy. He has a recruitment company in the city. He’s a lovely guy,” she said.
“We’ve been going out for nearly nine months now, I think. We met through Alex. I was dating him after Alex and then we stopped for a while, but now we’ve started again. It’s very nice.”
Nicola has a large following on social media but never shares any photos of herself with her other half.
Although they have mostly kept their relationship away from the public gaze, she and Charlie were spotted getting cosy in the crowd at Wimbledon last year.
While the model and her ex Alex had bad blood following their split, she insisted everything is fine between them now.
“There was initially some hard feelings, yeah, of course, but it’s been a while now,” she told the Diary.
Nicola has remained in London since she left the cast of Made In Chelsea and is hoping to carve out a presenting career in television.
“I did some presenting for a while and then I did Made In Chelsea,” she said.
“I’d love to get back into presenting, I guess I was just a bit shy. They do love the Irish over there.
“I wouldn’t want to go into full-time reality TV because it’s quite intense and you don’t have any free time.
“I’d love to do something like Dancing With The Stars because you’re learning something. I’d never say never to anything.”
Nicola, who got her start as a model with Andrea Roche’s agency, still tries to make it home as often as she can.
She was back in Dublin to attend the launch of Marissa Carter’s new limited edition Cocoa Brown tan, Cocoachella, at Farrier & Draper.
“I’ve been in London for three years and I absolutely love it,” she said. “I always think of Dublin as nothing like London at all, but they have upped their game.
“I come back home every few months. I was back for the big snow storm – there was two feet outside our house.
“I miss all my friends and my family here so much. There’s a lot more going on in London, but you can’t beat Dublin at the end of the day.”
