Newlywed Lionel Messi shares sweet photo with wife and sons as they return from luxurious honeymoon
It's back to work for Lionel Messi as his luxurious Caribbean honeymoon comes to an end.
The Barcelona star tied the knot with Antonella Roccuzzo in his hometown Rosario on June 30 before jetting to the Caribbean.
Taking to Instagram, Messi shared a photo of him sitting alongside his new wife and their two sons Thiago (four) and one-year-old Mateo on their private jet home.
The newlyweds were joined on the island of Antigua by Messi's teammate Luis Suarez and his wife Sofia for several days of their honeymoon.
The couples reportedly stayed at a luxury villa in Jumby Bay, according to The Mirror, which is said to cost €3900 per night.
Both Suarez and Messi will return to Barcelona for pre-season training on Friday, before flying to America for further training.
Messi and Roccuzzo's wedding was unsurprisingly a star-studded event, with teammates Neymar and Sergio Busquets in attendance on the day, as well as former Barca players Xavi Hernandez, Jordi Alba, Carles Puyol and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero.
Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas was also spotted at the celebrations as was Gerard Pique, who was joined by his wife, Colombian pop star Shakira.
Guests of the lavish City Centre Rosario, a huge complex in Messi's home town of Rosario in the Santa Fe province, played tennis on the courts and were also given access to the huge casino on the grounds.
Security was tight on the day, as 450 police officers were drafted into the area.
The bride wore a stunning Rosa Clara gown which was reportedly flown by private jet from Spain, while husband Messi cut a handsome figure in an Armani suit which was said to be designed by Argentinian designer Claudio Cosano.
Well wishes poured in from the world of soccer with the likes of fellow Ballon d'Or winner, Brazil and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho, who took to social media to congratulate the happy couple.
