'My ex ruined marriage for me' - The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco on finding love again
Actress Kaley Cuoco said her first husband Ryan Sweeting "ruined the idea of the marriage" for her.
The Big Bang Theory star (32) is engaged to equestrian Karl Cook (26), who popped the question in November, but she said it took her a long time to learn to trust again after her first marriage ended in divorce after just 22 months.
Cuoco and Sweeting, a tennis pro, wed after a whirlwind three month romance and she says she "completely changed" after their wedding, which prompted her to file for divorce in 2015.
"I honestly thought I wouldn't get married again. My ex ruined that word for me. I married someone the first time who completely changed. The person I ended up with was not the person I originally met. And that wasn't my fault - that was his. I knew how much I had to give and how much I wanted to receive," she tells the new issue of Cosmopolitan.
She met Cook in 2016 and says she took her time this time around, saying, "I knew I just had to be patient".
"I had to go through a lot of things, but it brought me to Karl."
After one year of dating, he proposed to Cuoco, the second highest paid actress on US television with a $900,000 episode paycheck for The Big Bang Theory, and an emotional video of her accepting soon went viral.
She is behind Modern Family's Sofia Vergara, who is paid $1m per episode, after taking a pay cut last year alongside the four other show leads in order to boost their co-stars' salaries.
Last month, she told E! News she is enjoying her engagement and she spoke of her excitement at finding her "soulmate".
"We're totally going to get married. We are planning it. We are thinking about it. I can't wait. I don't want it to be much longer. That's the truth. I really can't wait," she said.
"We are so happy and in love. He is excited as I am, which is sweet. I finally found my soul mate, so we're ready to do it."
