Monaco's young royals put on glamorous display - including an engagement ring and baby bump
Monaco's royal family mightn't make as many public appearances as their other European peers, but when they do, they deliver.
The young royals stepped out on Sunday night for all the annual Rose Ball at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club with two notable accessories - Charlotte Casiraghi's new engagement ring and Beatrice Borromeo's reported baby bump. Charlotte, who is the daughter of Princess Caroline of Hanover, announced she and long-term love Dimitri Rassam, a film producer, are due to wed this summer.
She was joined by her other half, who opted for a classic black tuxedo, while she turned heads in an asymmetric black gown with contrasting ostrich feather trim by Saint Laurent.
It was an evening of celebrations as Charlotte's brother Pierre and his wife Beatrice, whom he wed in 2015, are expecting their second child. Hello! magazine reported in January that the Italian journalist was pregnant and she debuted her baby bump last night in a black gown by Alberta Ferretti. The couple have a one-year-old son Stefano together.
Beatrice is believed to be due to give birth in May. Pierre's uncle Prince Albert of Monaco spoke excitedly about his sister Princess Caroline's grandmotherly instincts.
"She’s a very good mother, and probably an even better grandmother now if that’s possible," he said last year.
"She really raised her kids well. Without a father for many years, that’s important. I’m incredibly proud of her children and to have them turn out as they have, that’s a tribute to her."
