Model Winnie Harlow wins praise for posting underwear selfie
Winnie Harlow said she "find my beauty in the opinions of others" in an inspiring post on Instagram.
The 23-year-old model, who was linked to Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, shared a mirror selfie in just a thong, with the caption: "The real difference isn't my skin. It's the fact that I don't find my beauty in the opinions of others. I'm beautiful because I know it. Celebrate Your unique beauty today (& everyday)!"
Winnie has skin condition vitiligo, which she was bullied for in school and left her feeling suicidal. Her big big break in modelling came in 2014 when she was named as a finalist on America's Next Top Model. At the time, host Tyra Banks said she wanted to inspire new standards of beauty.
"Her skin breaks down barriers of what is considered beautiful," she said.
Harlow has been vocal about her experiences with bullying from a young age, previous sharing: "I remember sitting by my window, wishing upon the stars that my skin condition would go away.
"One boy would moo loudly at me every time we walked into an assembly, and everyone would laugh."
In 2011, she launched a now viral YouTube video called Vitiligo: A Skin Condition not a Life Change and is now an in-demand model as brand ambassador for Desigual and featured in Beyonce's video for Lemonade.
