Miranda Kerr reveals she had 'really bad depression' after Orlando Bloom divorce
Miranda Kerr has opened up her experience with depression after splitting with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.
The supermodel (33) wed the Pirates of the Caribbean actor (39) first began dating in 2007 before walking up the aisle in 2010 and eventually calling it quits in 2013. They have a five-year-old son Flynn together.
And while Kerr is now engaged to Snapchat founder and billionaire Evan Spiegel, she discussed a dark period in her life when her marriage ended.
"When Orlando and I separated, I actually fell into a really bad depression,” she told Elle Canada.
"I never understood the depth of that feeling or the reality of that because I was naturally a very happy person.
"My mom used to call me a ‘giggling Gert’ because I was always laughing, even in my sleep."
She said she overcame the spell of depression by meditating, practicing yoga and eating well.
"When I wake up and when I go to bed, I have that attitude of gratitude and I say, ‘Thank you for this beautiful day, for this roof over my head, for the fact that I have my health and my son has his health, and thank you for our family.'"
"What I have found is that everything you need, all of the answers are deep inside of you," she added.
"Sit with yourself, take a few breaths and get close to your spirit."
Kerr, a former Victoria's Secret Angel, has often spoken fondly of her ex saying she's in contact with him every day because of their child.
