Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander touch down in LA 'ahead of top secret wedding in Ibiza'
Theirs is one of the more elusive in Hollywood.
Aside from a select few quotes about their relationship, Michael Fassbender (40) and Alicia Vikander (29) keep their cards close to their chest. It was falsely reported in 2015 that the couple had split (Vikander later said that it was the only press that ever hurt her) and they often praise each other's professional performances without compromising any of their privacy they cherish as two of the biggest names in acting. And most of the time, they can avoid the glare of the paparazzi.
They are nearly exclusively pictured on red carpets or promotional events, although recently they have been pictured enjoying an uncharacteristically lavish yacht holiday in Ibiza. So it's only fitting that the wedding rumours which have surrounded the couple in recent weeks are centred around the Balearic island. Michael and Alicia, who have been together since first meeting on the set of the Light Between Oceans in 2014, will reportedly exchange vows in Spain this month, although specific details are being kept under lock and key.
The loved-up pair were pictured at LAX airport, arriving from visits to Paris, London and Spain, respectively, in the last two weeks and last minute wedding preparations are said to be underway, according to multiple reports.
Alicia was dressed in black skinny jeans, oversized black polo neck and camel ballet flats, with a crossbody leather bag by Louis Vuitton, which she first wore to the French fashion house's Spring/Summer '18 show at Paris Fashion Week, with a number of luggage items by the brand, which she is an ambassador for, as part of their travel necessities.
"Guests have been told to arrive in Ibiza on a certain date and they will then be collected and taken to the hotel. He’s splashing out big time and it's going to be the party of the year," sources told the New York Post.
Similarly, Grazia said that Fassbender, from Co Kerry, isn't telling guests where the celebrations will be held in order to keep it private. "Michael is so privacy-conscious that even guests don’t know exactly what the plan is, they've just been told when to arrive on the island. He’s paying for them all to stay in the same five-star resort, but hasn't revealed which one for fear of the exact location getting out," insiders told the mag.
Last year, they gave a joint interview to Entertainment Weekly discussing their movie and clearly explained their decision not to play into tabloid culture with their relationship. "I'm not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger, unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don't," Fassbender said.
As for falling in love off-screen, the actors said it was a natural process and their attraction to one another was immediate.
"It wasn’t the first time in a movie either of us had played somebody who is falling in love. There is an element of separation there. If I’m playing a murderer, I don’t go out and start murdering people," he added.
Vikander echoed his statements, saying: "I think we’ve made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us. It was very easy to unite, but that’s quite personal."
