Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander awkwardly avoid BAFTA 'Kiss Cam'
They've been dating for more than a year, but don't expect Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander to go public with their romance anytime soon.
The Irish actor (38) and Swedish actress (27), who are both nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress at the BAFTAs, sat together at the Royal Opera House, but avoided posing together on the red carpet.
And when host Stephen Fry introduced the Kiss Cam segment, both sat awkwardly as their turn approached. While Leonardo DiCaprio and Maggie Smith, Julianne Moore and Bryan Cranston and Rebel Wilson and Eddie Izzard all dramatically smooched for the bit - the real life couple refused to be drawn into a public smooch.
The segment was dropped from the BBC One broadcast, but several guests in attendance shared a picture of that awkward moment.
Earlier in the evening, Vikander, who is nominated for both The Danish Girl and Ex Machina, had a similarly uncomfortable moment when asked about her other half.
After revealing her favourite romantic movie is Lady and the Tramp, presenter Angela Scanlon asked if there was anyone she would want to share a "spaghetti kiss" moment with, to which she simply responded, "Yeah."
Ooh, so the BBC cut the awkward Fassbender/Vikander kiss-cam refusal at the #BAFTA awards!— John Wallace (@HeLikedTurner) February 14, 2016
Michael Fassbender refusing to play along with the BAFTA kiss cam - poor Alicia. Leonardo Di Caprio kissed Maggie Smith though. #EEBAFTAs— Anne Richardson (@AnnieRich75) February 14, 2016
