Mel B has lived up to her Spice Girl nickname when she hired a zoo for her daughter's birthday.

Scary Spice had everything from snakes to rats in her LA pad for the party, last week, to celebrate Madison turning three.

The Daily Mirror quoted The X Factor judge as saying: "I did an animal party for Madison because she turned three. There were 25 different animals and they educated them about where the animals were from, what they eat.

"We had a turtle, a lizard, little baby rats. We had every animal you could possibly think of. They were holding the tarantulas, they were holding the snakes, pythons and chinchillas."

The mother of three, whose previous gifts have included splashing out on a private island for hubby Stephen Belafonte, said it was a small family affair.

"It was great, just the five of us," she said.

"I was the one that was terrified, the kids loved it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the snakes."

Mel, who has just returned to LA after filming the judges houses part of the X Factor in Cancun, Mexico, has also spoken about being pregnant while on tour with the Spice Girls.

She said that while her pregnancy was easy, Victoria Beckham had a worse time.

"I had a really easy pregnancy. Super easy. Me and Victoria were pregnant at the same time. She was running off stage to vomit. And I thought, 'Oh my god that's so tough,"' she told the The Meredith Vieria Show.

"She had a really tough time but mine was easy."
