Romantic Rob Kearney took his girlfriend to one of Ed Sheeran's sell-out concerts in Dublin last week.

As revealed in the Herald, the Leinster and Ireland star (28) has been dating Dundrum stunner Jess Redden (21) for the past year, news that dismayed his legion of female fans.

Although they have been doing their best to keep their romance out of the spotlight, Rob took her along to see chart-topper Sheeran's final concert when he played a trio of gigs in the capital.

The Louth native was also there with his brother and fellow rugby star Dave Kearney as they checked out the Sing star at the 3Arena.

Smitten Rob, who has been voted one of Ireland's sexiest guys, has been seen on various dates around Dublin with Jess in recent times, but they have been trying to keep their relationship discreet.

He has declined to comment on it as he prefers to keep his cards close to his chest when it comes to his personal life.

Formerly one of Ireland's most eligible bachelors, this is his first serious girlfriend since he broke up with actress Susie Amy two years ago.

The pair had been together for more than three years as they pursued a long-distance relationship between Ireland and the UK.

Rob rarely comments on his personal life and has previously laughed off suggestions about his sex symbol status, joking that he had a high-maintenance grooming regime.

"There's lots of practice, up at 6am every morning," he said. "Three hours' maintenance before I leave the house. I cleanse, moisturise, and then a coat afterwards."

The sports star recently spread his wings into the pub business, having opened up Dublin 4 pub The Bridge 1859.

The venue was formerly Bellamy's, and his brother Dave has come in on the venture alongside Jamie Heaslip, Sean O'Brien and publican Noel Anderson.

The pub is expected to be thronged with sports fans and admirers of the players alike, given the lads' close connection with the bar.
