Meet the Golf WAGS: The US Masters birdies
Deirdre Reynolds profiles some of the glamorous women who'll be cheering on their sports-star spouses at Augusta.
Amy Mickelson - married to Phil Mickelson
One of the original GWAGs, former cheerleader Amy (40) has been a firm fixture on the green since she wed golf legend Phil in 1996. But the mum-of-three admits she didn't have the foggiest about golf at first: "When [Phil] told me he was a pro golfer, I thought he worked in the shop at a golf course." They've weathered a tumultuous few years together since the golfer announced he was taking a break from the sport to be by his wife's side when she battled breast cancer in 2009.
Caroline Harrington - married to Padraig Harrington
Competitive golf certainly hasn't driven a wedge between childhood sweethearts Padraig and Caroline, who've been married 17 years, and who live in Dublin with their two sons, Patrick (11) and Ciaran (7). In fact, business graduate Caroline (40) is every bit as sporty as her famous other half, practising Pilates five times a week. As an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the big-hearted blonde is also well-known for her charity work here. Husband Padraig played his part in 2012 by helping to raise an impressive €200,000 for her first cousin, Gerard Byrne, who was paralysed in a car accident, by auctioning off the branding on his golf kit at Augusta.
Annie Verret - dating Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth (21) has been tipped as one to watch. However, it's his girlfriend Annie who's likely to get all the attention. At just 21, the Texan beauty - who has been dating the golf player since high school - is also the youngest WAG on Team USA. With a business degree from Texas Tech under her belt, the brunette charity worker is more than just Spieth's number one fan. And as a fellow golfer, she won't be teed off if her fella ends up spending more time in the club house than he does with her over the coming days.
Jillian Stacey -dating Team USA member Keegan Bradley
Accessorising her Team USA ensemble with an oversized Louis Vuitton bag, 20-something Jillian looked every inch the GWAG as she touched down in Scotland last year for the Ryder Cup. Bradley introduced his long-term girlfriend to the world back in 2012. And the New England native, who graduated from Eastern Connecticut State college, has been considered his lucky charm ever since.
