Mary-Kate Olsen (31) makes rare public appearance with husband Olivier Sarkozy (48)
Mary Kate Olsen made an increasingly rare public appearance with her husband Olivier Sarkozy.
The former child star turned fashion designer and the French financier stepped out in New York City earlier this week for auction house Sotheby's Take Home A Nude Art Party and the couple happily posed for pictures and held hands on arrival.
Olsen stuck to her signature oversized style, wearing a floor length black ankle length coat with white lace trim and added a major '90s throwback with a pair of white velcro runners by Alexander McQueen. The couple wed in a secret ceremony in November 2015 and Mary-Kate only confirmed the marriage in March of this year, are fiercely protective of their private life and only make a handful of red carpet appearances together, while Mary-Kate is pictured more often (just slightly) with her twin sister and business partner Ashley Olsen at fashion events in New York.
But someone who did give some positive insight into their home life was Carla Bruni, who is married to Olivier's brother Nicolas, the former French Prime Minister.
"They seem so happy. I met her at some cousin’s wedding and she looked adorable and very kind and also Olivier looks very happy with her," the legendary supermodel said on Watch What Happens Live. She confirmed that she and her husband didn't make the nuptials for a "stupid...geographical reason" and therefore couldn't confirm the New York Post's reports of the unlikely decor, which is said to have included "bowls and bowls of cigarettes".
"Bowls of cigarettes? Why not?," Bruni said.
The couple wed at a "private residence on 49th Street" in front of 50 close friends friends and family and guests were asked to hand in their mobile phones to prevent any pictures leaking.
