'Marriage is no picnic' - Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh
She's been married to her music producing husband Ciaran Byrne for 18 years.
But fiery TV star Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh (42) says marriage is no bed of roses.
"I could have killed him a hundred times. I remember years ago we had this huge row and I went as far as the front door and then thought 'where will I go?'" she said.
According to Blathnaid, having your spouse in the public eye can be a challenge for any marriage.
"Things are great now but there have been really tough times. When there is stuff in the press that's hard.
"You don't really think of that when you sign up for a public life. Some people would say that's part of it but it shouldn't be.
"We know how to manage the craziness, because we know the craziness doesn't last," she explained.
The couple have four children together, Sile (17) Peadar (13) Comhghal (11) and Darach (10). And broody Blathnaid says she would have loved to have more.
"I remember when I had Darach, my youngest, Ciaran, said, 'That's it now', and I said, 'Oh, no', and he said, 'Blathnaid please, I love him and everything and I'm very happy but we have to stop'."
Blathnaid has taken over from new mum Claire Byrne on Ireland's Search and Rescue and says making the show was an exhilarating and hands on experience.
"It was wrong of me and ageist of me but I didn't think I would be doing anything like this again," she told the RTE Guide.
