Love/Hate actress Susan Loughnane is engaged to her long-term boyfriend.

The flame haired beauty (27), who played Debbie in the gangland drama,  showed off her dazzling diamond ring over the weekend after her partner of 10 years, David Doyle, popped the question.

And well wishes have poured in for Susan on her various social media accounts since sharing the exciting news.

The couple have been dating since secondary school and they work a long-distance relationship as David is based in Shannon, Co Clare, where he works in air traffic control and Susan divides her time between there, her Malahide family home and London.

"We have been together since secondary school," she gushed to us late last year. "It's lovely. I have fallen in love with the west coast of Ireland. It's such a nice break from the city. I fly into Shannon and I can really breathe and relax.

"I want to live there. I'm counting down the days until I can, but then there is the part of me that still wants to push ahead with career things."

After a brief foray into modelling and reality tv in the 2010 cycle of Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model, she is currently double jobbing as an actress and author, celebrating the success of her debut novel The Art of Scandal.

She explained her desire to work across so many disciplines, saying: "It's a bizarre business. I really want to act, but I'm not sure I want to be an actor. You have to live it. There are actors I know and every moment of their life, every breath they take, is acting.

"There is this hyper-obsession with the business and it's like it is all they are, whereas I want to be a million different things. I want to be an artist; I want to be a good friend; a good daughter; I want to read books and write books; I want to study anatomy and yoga.

"I don't just want to be an actor because I feel like when it consumes a person they become a bit boring to me and, frankly, I don't see how you can then play a role."
