Louise McSharry shunning pre-wedding diet: 'You can be beautiful beyond a size 10'
RTE presenter Louise McSharry says her weight is the last thing on her mind as she's "alive and healthy".
The popular broadcaster, who beat Hodgkin's Lymphonma in March after six months of treatment, and will walk up the aisle next month with her long-term partner Gordon Spieriin.
Louise said that she has shunned all ideas of a wedding diet, instead choosing to focus on her health.
"I've had a weird year with my body because of cancer, so I was worried going in for the fitting, because I don't weigh or measure myself," she told the Irish Daily Mail.
"I tried the dress on in January and was nervous. I was relieved I could wear it and it went on my body. I'm not thin, but I look brilliant. I'm alive and healthy."
The bride-to-be added that she doesn't understand the cliche of fellow brides shedding as much weight as possible before their big day.
"You can be beautiful and be fat, or beyond a size 10," she explained.
"Of course you want to feel your best and some people think weight loss is part of that, losing a few pounds, but you want to look like yourself too and there's no point in starving yourself for a single day."
