Coronation Street's Kate Ford has revealed her most embarrassing moment playing Tracy Barlow: doing birthing noises in post-production.

Ford, who has played the character for over nine years, had to do labour scene "noises" which she described as "very embarrassing".

Talking to the Radio Times, she said: "When Tracy gave birth, I ended up having to do the labour noises in post-production. That was very embarrassing.

"You make noises like that in isolation and it sounds like you're having sex. And I had to do the moans in front of an all-male crew. They just put a mic over you and say, 'Right, go! Do birthing sounds!'"

Last week Corrie fans were left devastated as the soap said farewell to Deirdre Barlow, one of its longest-serving characters.

Actress Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre for 42 years, died in January aged 60.

Her character's death in the show was attributed to an aneurysm as she sat in a deck chair in the garden.

Speaking about filming Deirdre's funeral scenes which were broadcast last night, Ford said: "It was hard. I'm glad it's done, I just want to move on from it now. Those scenes were really difficult, as you can imagine."
