Kendall Jenner is happy to see her dad Bruce staying “so strong” through his gender transition.
The 65-year-old Olympian confirmed in an interview with Diane Sawyer last month that he would be becoming a woman. During an appearance on the red carpet for the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, his 19-year-old daughter Kendall spoke proudly of her father’s decision to share his plans publicly.
“You know, honestly I’ve never seen him happier,” the model told E!’s Giuliana Rancic. “I was with him yesterday and that alone makes me so happy. So, to see him happy and to see him going through this and staying so strong and really thinking about his kids is amazing.”
Bruce has Kendall and sister Kylie, 17 with his third wife Kris Jenner, who he split from in October 2013. He also has two children from his first marriage, son Burt and daughter Cassandra, known as Casey, as well as two sons from his second wife Linda Thompson, Brandon and Brody. He is also stepfather to Kris’ children, Kim, Khloé, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian.
All of his children have shared their support of his decision to transition. His offspring feature in his new two-part reality show special, Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce, and one scene sees Kendall in tears over how much she loves her dad.
“He's the most amazing person I know,” she is seen saying. “I couldn't ask for a better dad. He taught me how to ride a bike and be the tomboy that I am.”
Meanwhile Kim, 34, is also seen fighting back tears over the family’s latest development as she discusses her concern over how Kris is handling the news.
“I was thinking, ‘Mom this is really hard for her.’ It’s so sad. She cries all the time and it makes me really sad,” she said. “We should really appreciate all the things she does for us, because she does a lot.”
