Kate Middleton is feeling 'up and down at the moment', according to husband Prince William.
The Duchess of Cambridge was forced to cancel her first solo trip aboard to Malta this week due to severe morning sickness.
But the Duke went in her place and was left unsurprised that much of the conversation revolved around his wife.
According to People magazine, an English tourist asked the 32-year-old how Kate was feeling, to which he responded: “She’s so-so, she’s up and down at the moment.”
William even joked to Maltese President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca on his arrival on Saturday: “Unfortunately you have me...Kate's very disappointed she couldn’t be here today.”
And the soon-to-be second time father was cracking several quips about his first son, Prince George, whom he said would not be able for the trip abroad.
“Malta might not survive Prince George," he said. "There’s too many precious things around here.”
While Kate focuses on recovering from hyperemesis gravidarumin in her first trimester, the royals are reportedly hiring a second nanny to help with the new arrival.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who is pregnant with her second child, will not travel to Malta this weekend for her first official solo overseas visit because she "continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum", Kensington Palace said.
