Kate Middleton continued to showcase her chic new makeover during a surprise appearance at Wimbledon today.

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge joined spectators to watch players competing during the second day of the tennis championships, which she attends annually. Kate is an avid tennis and fittingly, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) - the organisation which stages Wimbledon.

In the early stages of the day, she shunned her usual spot in the royal box to sit among other guests before visiting a number of different courts throughout the day. She arrived in a chic white shirt dress with block leather bow belt, clutching a straw mini box bag by her favourite designer Alexander McQueen.

After direct influence from the runways, mini bags have taken over the accessories market and the straw clutch is being hailed as the bag of the summer, making her choice an uncharacteristically on-trend piece.

It was another step towards her official shedding of the somewhat mumsy style she has adopted in recent years, an indicator of what refreshing looks are to come as she settles comfortably into her role in the family. Her stylist Natasha Archer has been liaising with her throughout her maternity leave, and the duchess has also reportedly been seeking advice from former British Vogue fashion editor Virginia Chadwyck-Healy.

She was seated with tennis players Katie Boulter and Anne Keothavong and was pictured laughing with them from the stands as she watched Harriet Dart on Court 14.

Last year, in a bid to show a united front, Kate and sister-in-law Meghan Markle arrived together at Wimbledon, resulting in one of the British royal family's most talked about appearances of the year. Buckingham Palace haven't confirmed an appearance by Meghan this year, but she's expected to attended in a personal capacity due to her close friendship with tennis superstar Serena Wililams.
