Kate Beckinsale's husband Len Wiseman files for divorce after 12 years
Actress Kate Beckinsale and film director Len Wiseman are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.
Court records in Los Angeles show that Wiseman, 43, filed for divorce on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences.
The pair, who reportedly announced their separation in November last year, married in May 2004 and have no children together.
They began their relationship after working together on the 2003 movie Underworld, which Wiseman directed and Beckinsale starred in as vampire warrior Selene.
The film also featured Beckinsale's former partner of eight years, British actor Michael Sheen. She and Sheen have a 17-year-old daughter together, Lily.
British star Beckinsale, 43, will appear in the fifth film in the Underworld series - Underworld: Blood Wars - which Wiseman helped write and produce. The film is due out in UK cinemas in February.
The former couple has waived any right to spousal support, suggesting they have a prenuptial agreement in place.
Rumours about the couple's marriage began circulating last year when Kate was spotted on the red carpet without her wedding ring.
Multiple sources revealed the Hollywood couple separated over the summer last year, but insisted there was "no drama" in the break up.
"They are still friendly and spend time together in L.A. when Kate is there...," a source said. "They have both had complicated schedules and have grown apart."
Another insider told Us Weekly: "They tried to make it work, but they end up falling back into old habits and fighting."
Neither Kate nor Len or their representatives have commented on the split.
