Jeremy Clarkson will be back on the BBC this Christmas, courtesy of a two-part Top Gear special.

Top Gear: From A-Z will celebrate the best of the popular BBC Two series during the Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond era.

In alphabetical order, it will feature behind-the-scenes insights and insider facts, alongside the silliest moments - with each of the letters introduced by a star guest from the Top Gear celebrity fold.

Clarkson was sacked by the BBC in March for attacking producer Oisin Tymon.

The three former presenters are busy filming their new motoring show for Amazon Prime, while Chris Evans will present a revamped Top Gear when it returns to BBC Two in 2016.

Top Gear: From A-Z is among the festive highlights announced by the broadcaster.

Christmas on the BBC will also include Snow Chick, a penguin documentary voiced by Kate Winslet.

There will be an adaptation of children's favourite Stick Man, voiced by Martin Freeman and Hugh Bonneville - with Jennifer Saunders narrating.

And a TV version of David Walliams's popular book Billionaire Boy will see the author play a dinner lady.

Dickensian showcases a collection of Charles Dickens' characters in one story set in London. Among the cast are Stephen Rea, Pauline Collins and Caroline Quentin.

Other highlights include Poldark star Aidan Turner heading an adaptation of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, and veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough revisiting the Great Barrier Reef.

There will also be festive specials of popular BBC shows, including Sherlock, Doctor Who, Call the Midwife, Strictly Come Dancing and EastEnders.
