Jennifer Zamparelli celebrates daughter Florence's first birthday with family trip to NYC
Most kids mark their first birthday with a small family gathering, but not Florence Zamparelli.
The cute baby - daughter of RTE TV and radio star Jennifer Zamparelli - turned one a few weeks ago and her parents marked the occasion with a trip to the Big Apple.
But Jennifer admitted that she got more than she bargained for on the flight with her little girl.
"We went over to New York for Florence's first birthday," Jennifer told the Diary.
"Some people get a party; she got brought on a plane. She was a fecking nightmare. It was like a star ship enterprise with all the buttons and controls.
"Because of my job talking to people, I like to be very quiet on the plane and just read my book.
"But Florence kept waving at people and then you have to talk to them. She was making friends with everyone on the flight, but it was good. We went over to see family and it was a nice break," Jen added.
Plane trips aside, the Baldoyle native is planning to take as many travel opportunities as possible while Florence is young and the family have lined up their next holiday in just a few weeks' time.
"I don't have to pay for her until she is three so I will do all my travel now," the Breakfast Republic host joked.
"I was very fortunate when I was small, my sister used to work for BA and we flew to Africa when I was seven."
Lucky The 36-year-old married her long-term partner Lau at a ceremony in Castle Leslie, Monaghan, in July 2014.
The happy couple and their little girl Florence live together in Ranelagh and the Bridget and Eamon star described it as a "really nice town".
"I bought it in 2010. I was really, really lucky. I live in a shoebox and I'll never be able to move."
And Jen told the Diary that the couple hope to add to their family in the future.
For now, the ex-Republic of Telly star is busy with her 2fm breakfast show, which she co-hosts with 'TV husband' Bernard O'Shea and presenter Keith Walsh.
Jen and her co-host Bernard are also "bouncing around ideas" for a second series of their RTE2 comedy Bridget and Eamon.
"We just did Bridget and Eamon and hopefully we will get to go again. We are in talks about other projects. It's nice to step back and take a little break and write more and think about where you want to go and what you want to do," she added.
Jen, who helped launch new pre-paid debit service 3Money, also revealed that she is currently in talks for a new contract with 2fm.
