Jameela Jamil has hit back at claims she makes up health issues for attention.

The actress and TV presenter, 33, has spoken at length about various health problems she has endured throughout her life.

They include being diagnosed with a genetic tissue disease as a child, her battles with an eating disorder and damaging her spine after being run over by a car aged 17.

Some weirdo stalker started a viral conspiracy thread on my having munchausens apparently. She thought that because my car accident stories was “different” .... that’s because they were about two separate car accidents 13 years apart. In her rush to bully and drag, she forgot to read... 🤓 But after a few hours of feeling upset that I’m being gaslit and targeted for harassment... I sort of realized... oh. Ok. Some people have sad, empty lives. And doing this gives them some purpose. And I don’t have to do stuff like this because I have a purpose in @i_weigh and all our beautiful policy change and fights for legislation to protect young people. So now I think all of the accusations are hilarious and I’m starting my own rumors. Write your best rumor about me below!

However, in a post that has since gone viral, a social media user claims to have found discrepancies in Jamil’s interviews, leading to allegations the British TV presenter feigns health scares.

Jamil, who earlier this month came out as “queer” following a backlash over her casting in a voguing competition show, has now hit back.

She said the allegations were made by “some weirdo stalker” and that supposed holes in her stories were because the accuser had made mistakes in their research.

In an Instagram post, Jamil said the social media user was in a “rush to bully and drag” and “forgot to read”.

Jamil, who used to present Channel 4 show T4, said she felt “upset” after being “gaslit and targeted for harassment” by the viral post and that “some people have sad, empty lives”.

In response she jokingly claimed to be creating rumours about herself and invited fans to start their own.

Jamil, a prominent activist, earlier tweeted: “Not afraid of you or your dumb internet conspiracy theories. Keep them coming. You just add to my relevance.

“I’m gonna keep helping people with eating disorders, and changing laws and global policies to protect kids and their mental health and there’s NOTHING you can do about it.”

Jamil said being “gaslit” over her health issues is a “very specific pain and trauma”.

She added: “I’ve explained and defended every single accusation In my various threads. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get on with a speech I’m writing for the UN.

“So have fun arguing about how many times YOU think I’ve run away from bees. Or if YOU think I had cancer.”

London-born Jamil has previously discussed two car accidents. When she was 17 she was running from a bee when she was truck by a vehicle, damaging her spine.

She credits the incident with ending her modelling career and changing her life.

The second car accident she refers to is said to have happened when she was on a jog during filming for the first season of US comedy The Good Place.
