Ivanka Trump 'feels terrible' about 'out of touch' Instagram post
Ivanka Trump reportedly "feels terrible" after she was widely criticised for her "out of touch" Instagram post earlier this week.
The US First Daughter (35) was slammed for posting a picture of her with husband Jared Kushner dressed in a $5,000 designer dress while protests were erupting around the United States against President Trump's immigration ban.
The mother-of-two, who has avoided social media since the fracas, was labelled "tone deaf" and "out of touch" for the photo.
A source told Vanity Fair that the former model "feels terrible about the post, and does not want something like this to happen again."
The insider added that the picture showed her "naiveté in not understanding her surroundings or circumstances, adding she "can adjust her behavior accordingly, and she's open to that."
The publication cited a second source who has close connections to her husband who said: "The photo made me feel like maybe she is more like her father than I’d initially thought."
She has yet to delete the controversial post.
Trump and Kushner are Orthodox Jews and observe Shabbat from Friday night to Saturday evening which requires them to refrain from using technology or travelling in a car.
It's reported the pair were not aware of the extent of the "fallout from the the executive order only in an oblique way" due to their avoidance of social media before the picture was posted.
Ivanka is not expected to have a formal role in the White House due to federal anti-nepotism laws (her husband was able to bypass these and is working as a senior adviser to the president) but she is unofficially considered to be her father's most trusted confidante.
"It’s a very difficult line to straddle here, but the question is whether the Trump strategy might end up strangling her. It puts her in a really difficult situation."
