Prince Harry has broken his silence on the nude photo scandal that rocked the royal family.

Photographs of the 30-year-old prince naked in a Vegas hotel room in 2012 were leaked and the international media went into a frenzy while royal image makers went into overdrive.

Harry completed two tours with the British Army in Afghanistan and was unwinding in Sin City in between.

"It was probably a classic case of me being too much Army and not enough prince," he told Man of the World magazine, when asked about the incident. "It's a simple case of that."

After he was reportedly reprimanded by Buckingham Palace officials, his older brother Prince William and the Army for the party pictures, he returned for his second tour and spoke about is experiences there.

"I saw some horrendous things," he said. "The tragic injuries and deaths of local people from roadside bombs, some of whom were children; coalition forces lying on the battlefield."

“To see young lads — much younger than me — wrapped in plastic and missing limbs with hundreds of tubes coming out of them was something I never prepared myself for."

Meanwhile, in 2014, Harry is preparing for a low-key Christmas with his brother, sister-in-law Kate Middleton and nephew Prince George.

Royal insiders say this year William and Catherine are breaking with tradition, and will only spend part of the day with the Queen at her Sandringham home, before going back to their lavish residence Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England. And they will reportedly be joined by Harry.

"William spoke to the Queen about doing their own thing, especially since Kate has been suffering with acute morning sickness. He thought it would be nice for her to have a low-key Christmas. The Queen agreed," a source told British magazine Grazia.
