'It can get quite emotional' - Love Island's Kaz opens up during Dublin trip
Love Island fever is still going strong after a successful season this summer and not just among the fans, but with the stars themselves.
From sponsorships on Instagram to launching their own clothing collections, this year’s Love Island participants are still living the dream four months on- and runner up Kaz Crossley is one of them.
A throng of screaming young fans lined up to see the 23-year-old in Dublin last week, something she’s had to get used to since leaving the villa.
“I love travelling and meeting people that are following me and interested in my makeup. I always have time for them because they’re so interested, especially the younger girls, it can get quite emotional,” Kaz told Independent.ie Style. “I think I’m quite good with it [the attention]. When I first came out it was very overwhelming, but you get used to it. I don’t mind it.”
The Londoner, who worked as a makeup artist prior to her newfound Love Island fame, was a runner up on this year’s season alongside boyfriend Josh Denzel.
The pair stole the heart of viewers across the UK and Ireland while in the villa and have evidently continued to do so now that they’re back in the real world- but having such a public relationship is something they came to accept before they entered the show.
“My relationship is in the public eye fully, but I think when you go on Love Island you realise that’s what you’re getting yourself into. Josh is really good at that stuff so he makes my life a lot easier,” Kaz said. “We still have our private lives, it’s not like we let everyone know what we’re doing.”
Like many of her fellow Love Island cast members, one thing that has come as a “big change” to Kaz is her use of social media, particularly because of the young following she has.
“I think I’m thinking a lot more about what I post on Instagram these days, because it’s more my career now,” she explained. “You do think twice about what you post because you’ve got such a wide audience of people looking at what you’re doing- especially young girls. It's definitely a big change.”
And while post-island life involves everything from public appearances to product launches, Kaz says that makeup will always be her first love- and says she’d love to have her own brand someday.
“I definitely did want to continue makeup after the island. I wanted to see what I could do overall, because there’s loads of different things I could do like fashion and fitness.
“I think makeup is a thing I’m talented at and I’ve got a lot of passion for, so I knew I wanted to continue it. I think eventually I would like to have my own makeup range, my own business.”
Speaking about whether she still keeps in touch with this year’s cast, Kaz says she sees “pretty much everyone”.
“There’s certain people I’m closer to. But you see everyone at events all the time. I feel like we’re a lot closer than last year’s group.”
The reality TV star was in Dublin for the launch of Inglot’s ‘All Covered Up’ collection but plans to enjoy some time off with her boyfriend over Christmas with a trip to the US also in the works, she says.
“I’m going to have Christmas with Josh’s family and then we’re going to Miami for New Years!”
