Irish rugby star Simon Zebo quietly welcomes second child with partner Elvira
Family life suits Simon Zebo.
The Munster and Ireland rugby star (26) and his long-term girlfriend Elvira Fernandez (23) are celebrating the birth of their second child together, Independent.ie Style can reveal.
The couple, who have been dating for three years, quietly welcomed their daughter Sofia in late 2016 and while they are protecting her from the spotlight, Zebo has been slowly sharing some glimpses of his excitement on social media.
Fernandez, a model, moved from her native Madrid in 2015 and moved to Ireland to be with her beau and raise their children here. She recently graduated with a degree in law from University College Cork (UCC).
The Zebos house will be bustling over the coming months as his sister Jessika, a former Ireland sprinter, welcomed a daughter in October.
Simon and Elvira's little girl will have plenty of playdate options on the Irish rugby squad as Leinster and Ireland teammate Sean Cronin welcomed twins with wife Claire in December, while Johnny Sexton and wife Laura have two children Luca (two) and Amy, who turns one this month.
In a 2015 interview, Simon said fatherhood changed his approach to his career trajectory to do what "whatever is best for me and my family".
"It is not just me so I can’t be selfish," he said.
"At the end of the day, rugby is a business and you can’t get swallowed up. You have to look after yourself, and know what’s best for you and your family."
