Irish rugby star Cian Healy shows his softer side for Valentine's Day charity drive
Irish rugby star Cian Healy is showing his softer side this Valentine's Day.
The single athlete (27), who recently split from long-term girlfriend Holly Carpenter, is backing the Peter McVerry Trust's aim to sell a range of roses to raise money for homeless and housing services in Dublin.
Supporters can choose to buy single roses, half bouquets, full bouquets and luxury bouquets.
The trust, which has been operating since 1983, provides drug treatment and housing services to homeless people among other supports.
Chief executive Pat Doyle said he hopes the new appeal will raise awareness of the difficulties couples face due to homelessness.
"The number of couples who have found themselves in need of homeless services has grown," he said.
"For couples who experience homelessness it can place a huge strain on relationships and homeless services can be a very difficult place to maintain a relationship."
