Irish model Holly Carpenter: Mel B's 'creepy' ex Stephen invited me to one of their parties
Model Holly Carpenter has revealed that former Spice Girl Mel B's estranged husband once suggested she would be an ideal guest for one of the couple's parties.
Writing in her Herald column today, Dubliner Holly (25) told how she met the pair at an exclusive London nightclub and admitted she found Stephen Belafonte "a bit creepy".
"I actually met Scary Spice and her husband in the smoking area of a nightclub," Holly said.
"I heard a strong Leeds accent ask, 'Have you got a spare fag love?' I turned around and it was my childhood idol, Scary Spice.
"I tried to act unfazed and chatted to her. When her husband came over, she said, 'This is Holly, she's Irish'.
"He shook my hand and I remember thinking he was a bit creepy. He said, 'Get her number, Mel, I'd say she'd love our parties'."
The revelation comes as Mel B was granted a temporary restraining order against Belafonte after listing a string of alleged incidents of verbal and physical abuse.
In court papers, Mel B - whose full name is Melanie Brown - described Belafonte as a "large, extremely aggressive, hostile and violent individual" who was "controlling, manipulative and abusive".
He has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them "outrageous and unfounded".
Mel B claimed the first violent incident in their marriage happened in November 2007 after she finished runner-up on Dancing With The Stars.
Before she took part in a live TV interview at their Los Angeles home, she alleged Belafonte went into a "rage" in their bedroom and attacked her.
"He placed both of his hands around my neck and began choking me. He then slammed me down on to the hardwood floor," she said.
Mel B said her children were asleep at the time and she had red marks around her neck that had to be covered with make-up.
"Later I would quickly come to realise that his beatings and abuse would coincide with my career success," she said.
"When something good would happen for me, he would beat me down to let me know he was in charge."
In another alleged attack, Mel B claimed Belafonte punched her in the face when she was working on Australia's version of The X Factor in July 2012.
The singer, who was a judge on the show, said Belafonte "flew into a rage" after he claimed she had been flirting with R&B star Usher.
"He punched me with a closed fist in the face causing my lip to split and then swell," she said.
Mel B said she told people on the show that her swollen lip had been caused by an allergic reaction to shellfish.
Producers called for a doctor and she was given a steroid injection, putting her own health at risk, she said.
Mel B claimed Belafonte threatened to release sex tapes of her if she told anyone what had happened, before calling her a "f**king monkey", "dumb" and a "derelict".
She also alleged she was assaulted by Belafonte after she performed with the Spice Girls at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
