Irish actor Aidan Gillen lights up red carpet alongside David Beckham and Guy Ritchie
Irish actor Aidan Gillen took to the red carpet alongside David Beckham and Guy Ritchie for the King Arthur European premiere in London on Wednesday night.
The Game of Thrones actor is set to star as Bill in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, directed by Ritchie.
The Dublin native was joined by a host of stars at the event, with model Poppy Delevingne, David Beckham and son Brooklyn Beckham also in attendance.
Speaking to the Press Association, Gillen (49) said he felt that he had returned to a "familiar world" for his role in the new King Arthur film.
"It’s not the same, though there are similarities in those medieval-style fantasies.
"Game Of Thrones is not this world, but it is part of that fantasy genre – and this film is quite heavy on the sorcery and mysticism, so it is a world I am familiar with.
"But it doesn’t feel like the same job, so it does feel like I am getting a break.”
He will reprise his role in the adaptation of George RR Martin’s books when it returns for its seventh season this summer.
Former England football captain Beckham will flex his acting skills for the movie by making a cameo as Trigger, although his debut was dubbed "cringeworthy" by fans.
However, the 42-year-old isn't sure whether he will make a full career change to work as an actor.
"I don’t know yet, one step at a time," he said.
