'If I were Becky with the good hair, wouldn't I actually have good hair?' - Rita Ora on Jay-Z affair rumours
Rita Ora has tackled rumours of an affair with Jay-Z head on, saying she "gets emotional" thinking about her appreciation for Beyonce.
"Nobody can ever say anything wrong about that woman in front of me. I get emotional just talking about it," she told the Sunday Times.
After Beyonce released her Lemonade album in 2016, referencing Jay-Z's infidelity, she identified 'Becky with the good hair' as the woman who had an affair with her husband, but has never divulged who she was speaking about. When asked about the claims, Rita said: "If I were Becky with the good hair, wouldn't I actually have to have good hair? Look at it. It's all weave and extensions."
Rita, who is originally from Kosovo but moved to the UK as a child, was originally signed to Roc Nation, but criticised her treatment there, describing it as sexist.
"I want to find the right word here, and maybe this is my interpretation, but I do feel I got discriminated against because I was a woman," she said.
"I almost felt - maybe this is just my interpretation - I could have had a better chance if I’d been male."
While she's back on civil terms with JAY-Z, calling him "very cordial" when she bumped into him recently, she's now made her older sister Elena her business manager.
"To be honest, I’d always wanted to become a household name (not just a pop singer), that was my dream,” she explained. "My sister and I, we argue like crazy all the time, but we’re very proud of what we’ve done up to this point."
