TV3 presenter Elaine Crowley has denied there is a romance brewing with Ryan Tubridy.

The broadcasters were romantically linked last month after a report suggested her two guest appearances on his 2FM radio show and The Late Late Show were indicative of a relationship.

However, Elaine has broken her silence on the matter, saying she's "mortified" for all the dating questions he is regularly asked.

"Believe me, if I was – and I cannot lie – then I would just say it out straight, but absolutely not," she told Independent Style.

"The poor man must be demented, I feel sorry for him.

"I’m mortified for him about [dating questions] he gets."

The 37-year-old, who hosts TV3's panel show Midday, said that she also found it insulting as if a relationship would be the "only reason" she featured on a rival broadcaster's programme.

"I was kind of insulted because it’s like I’m on The Late Late Show or his radio show and the only reason I’m on is because of that."

Elaine, who presents and produces Midday, said she is adding another string to her bow - screenplay writer.

"Life is busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way," she added.

"You need it. Not meaning to be mean or anything, I like working in television, but it does have a certain shelf life, if you’re male or female. You do need to be able to have other strings to your bow.

"I love working in television so for me it’s about doing everything.

‘Eventually I’d like to [go behind the scenes] entirely, but I’ll keep my foot in the door with [presenting] for a while.

"I’m writing a screenplay at the moment and I recently did a play for the Barnardos Under My Bed event. That was my first time in stage in quite a while, but acting is my first love so I’m looking at getting back into it eventually.!

Crowley was on hand to support Ireland AM's campaign with Children's Hospice Wee, in conjunction with LauraLynn House.
