Former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh might be more loved-up than ever, but busy schedules means she and girlfriend Shauna Keogh have to work at making quality time together.

The couple, who have been dating for nearly two years, are both freelancers - Maria, with her events company and Shauna is an Emmy-winning tv producer. And Keogh just finished filming new TV3 programme Dream House, hosted by Anna Daly.

"i never get to see her. With work [for Shauna], when it rains, it pours. She’s blowing up," she told Independent.ie Style. They made time for some one-on-one time over the summer with a trip to Lanzarote.

Maria, who won the ROT crown in 2014, has also carved out a successful presenting career with gigs on the Seven O'Clock Show, but these days, her attention is focused on her wedding planning company Juniper & Ruby.

The newly-blonde beauty was born in Boston, but grew up in Shrule, Co Mayo and eventually moved to Philadelphia, and while a move back stateside isn't on the agenda, she emphasised the importance of staying in touch with her family living thousands of miles away.

Walsh explained that her brother moved out of the family home in Philadelphia when he was 18, while her sister now lives in Australia with her new husband.

"He moved to Memphis, Tennessee on a soccer scholarship when he was 18 and has been in and out of the house since," she explained at the launch of Three’s Make It Count mural on South King Street.

"He’s 34 now, and has moved back to New York. He was in LA when I was a Rose. My sister’s out in Australia with her new husband then. I do miss them - we’re a very transient family."

She flew to Boston last month where she acted as a celebrant at her cousin Nicole’s wedding.
