I ended nightly glass of wine treat after I got a 'wine waist' - model Sarah McGovern
Stunning model Sarah McGovern has revealed how she ditched the booze because she felt she was getting a "wine waist".
The well-known clothes horse (37) showed off her enviable figure at a swimwear and lingerie fashion show in Arnotts this week.
Looking at her washboard stomach (right), it's hard to believe the Dublin model had two children in quick succession.
But the mum to Robyn (2) and Jude (4) insists that she had let her healthy regime fall by the wayside in recent months and is only back on the fitness wagon recently.
Like so many other working parents, she and hubby Kenny Vaughan were routinely relaxing with a glass of wine after putting the kids to bed at night - prompting her to rein in the casual drinking at home.
"It was getting to the stage where I was having a glass of wine a night, every night," she said. "If it was a tough day at work or tough day at home, you feel like you'd deserve to have a glass at the end of the day.
"But it had become a real habit - as in every night - so I decided to knock that on the head. It's just one glass, but I felt like I was getting a little wine belly.
"We would still share a bottle of wine on a Friday night, as you still have to have your treats. We haven't cut it out completely, but we wouldn't really go out."
Although she's usually a massive fan of working out and watching what she eats, even training regularly while she was pregnant, Sarah said she became more relaxed after having her second baby in January 2014.
As a busy mum of two little ones, she said it was impossible to find the time to fit regular workouts into her hectic schedule.
"I just started back in Pilates three weeks ago, but I hadn't been in absolutely ages," she continued.
"Then, this week, I went for a run twice and I felt great after that.
"I don't deprive myself and I believe it's all about moderation. I do love my food - I love my treats.
"I have to have chocolate every day. And all last year, I hadn't been working out or using a personal trainer. I started doing cross-fit, but I couldn't commit to making three classes a week, but I'm definitely getting back into it now."
She usually starts off her day by having a healthy bowl of porridge followed by a wrap or soup for lunch and then a dinner cooked from scratch - and said she often looks to fellow models for culinary inspiration.
"I would love to be like Rozanna Purcell or Rosanna Davison and follow their healthy recipes, but I just don't have time - so you have to do what works for you," she added.
One of Ireland's best-known models, the Andrea Roche beauty has many strings to her bow and has branched out in recent years into other areas.
As well as working in Fashion City, she's also an ambassador for National Spring Clean and has a qualification in PR.
