Caitlyn Jenner has admitted that she has lost regular contact with a "couple" of her children in recent months.

In a follow up interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday, two years after her transition announcement on 20/20, she spoke about how her transition has affected her relationships with family members.

Caitlyn (67) said, "Some [of my children] I have remained very close to.  A couple of them, a little more distant.

"I have to admit, I'll sit here and wonder, 'Is it because of my transitioning? Or is it because their life is so busy that they don't call, like, all the time?"

Although she did not reveal which of her children are more distant, the most recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians revealed that step-daughter Khloe felt unable to communicate with Caitlyn because of things she had said around the time of her transition.

Caitlyn admitted that perhaps she was at fault when it comes to distance between her and her four step-children with Kris Jenner.

"I dropped out as a parent," she told Diane.  "There's no excuse for not being a good parent, no matter how many problems you have."

Although she was aware that some of her kids were not behind her Vanity Fair cover, she felt it was something she had to do for herself.

"My feeling on that picture, I know my kids, they thought, 'You know what, it's a little too much.  But, from my standpoint, I had suffered for 65 years okay?

"To have a beautiful shot of my authentic self was important and the shock value."

Caitlyn's biological children issued a statement to ABC which was read out during the interview.

Brody, Brandon, Cassandra and Burt said, "We love our father and have a deep admiration for her bravery in pursuit of becoming a more authentic version of herself.

"Every family is different with its own unique set of milestones, but we can honestly say that Caitlyn's gender transition has brought our family closer together and for that we are grateful."

As for dating, Caitlyn revealed, "I don't see really even dating in my future.  I have not been approached.  I've never been out on a date [in two years].  I just have a lot of friends.  My life revolves around my kids."
