Hot reception for hotel
The Spencer Hotel has barely been open five minutes but it's already become a mecca for the creme-de-la-creme of the social set.
U2 frontman Bono and his pal and artist Guggi stopped by the swanky new joint en route to see Bob Dylan at the O2 earlier this month where they tucked into some punchy posh curries.
"I've been dreaming about the curry and the gig ever since," Guggi admitted at the launch this week. "They were both bloody good."
As if that wasn't enough, Louis Walsh's new boy band Hometown are members of the gym and have been working out in between signing major record deals.
Walsh had flown in for the launch to support his pals Paul and Lisa Fitzpatrick – the brains behind the operation.
"It's my new favourite place," he said. "I flew out of Edinburgh and tomorrow I'm back in London filming X Factor. Mel B is my new best friend – she's not as scary as you would have thought."
Inside, guests including Transformers actor Glenn Keogh, tailor Louis Copeland and model Sarah McGovern tried the Asian canapés and swirled wine glasses the size of fish bowls.
But it was all work and no play for Maia Dunphy who was there filming the second series of What Women Want with former X Factor contestant Janet Devlin.
"We'll finish up the four episodes this summer and then it's the big move over to London with the other half," Dunphy said. "It's go, go, go."
