Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey could lose his €40m fortune in marriage split
Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey could lose up to €40m in divorce proceedings after his wife of fifteen years filed for divorce earlier this week.
The actor, who plays Dr Derek Shepherd in the long-running medical drama, and his wife Jillian Fink Dempsey did not have a prenuptial agreement in place before they wed in 1999.
Jillian cites irreconcilable differences in court documents as the reason for the marriage breakdown and is requesting spousal support from the star which could cost him half of his fortune.
She is requesting to keep all of her jewellery and stated that ownership of “additional separate property assets” should be determined in the proceedings. Fink Dempsey is also calling for the actor to fund her attorney fees.
The couple have three children together twins Sullivan and Darby (7) and 12-year-old Talula Fyfe.
This will be the second divorce for the hunky star, who was married to fellow actor and acting coach Rochelle "Rocky" Parker from 1987 until 1994.
However Patrick has previously spoken about how happy Jillian made him.
“The best part about being married is feeling centered. Nothing else matters so much as long as you can come home and be with your family,” he said.
But the star did add that he still likes to have some alone time.
“She’ll do things on her own so she can come back and be much more patient with the kids,” he continued. “I go car racing.”
