Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart split after 17 years
Actors Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart have split after 14 years of marriage.
Scream 2 actress Gayheart, 46, filed divorce papers in Los Angeles on Friday. According to TMZ, she is asking for spousal support from former Grey's Anatomy hunk Dane, as well as joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters, Billie, seven, and six-year-old Georgia.
Representatives for the stars have yet to comment on the divorce news.
The former couple, which wed in 2004, has been through a lot together over the years.
In 2001, Gayheart was involved in a fatal car crash which killed a nine-year-old kid. She pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced to three years probation.
The actors also hit headlines in 2009, when a sex tape of the pair engaging in a threesome with another woman was leaked online.
Meanwhile, Dane, 45, has endured a rough battle with depression, checking into a treatment centre last spring to focus on his health.
He briefly stepped away from production on his U.S. TV drama The Last Ship, and returned to the spotlight in June, when he attended the 16th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles with his wife, and claimed he was back on top form.
In a candid interview on breakfast show Today, Eric admitted his most recent period of depression caught him by surprise.
"I took some time off - I was dealing with some depression, which was kind of odd to me," the father-of-two shared in July. "I felt very conflicted about it because I didn't really feel like I had anything to be depressed about."
The actor has since been prescribed an antidepressant to help manage his condition, which he insisted is now completely "gone".
He had previously checked into rehab in 2011 for an addiction to painkillers.
