Giuliana Rancic reveals she and husband Bill lost their last embryo
Giuliana Rancic has opened up about a new devastating blow in her fertility struggle.
The E! News anchor has documented her struggles with fertility on her reality show Giuliana & Bill, as well as in candid interviews.
She and husband Bill Rancic welcomed their son Duke in 2012 via surrogate and she told People that they learned their surrogate has miscarried their last embryo on New Year's Eve.
She had three embryos after Duke's birth. In 2014, two embryos were implanted, but she miscarried weeks after.
“We were so optimistic with this last embryo. We thought, ‘This is definitely going to work. This is our last shot'," she told the magazine.
"It was painful."
The red carpet host said that she and her husband are "open to anything" and wouldn't rule out adoption in giving Duke a sibling.
“I think adoption is a beautiful gift you’re giving each other," she explained. "And it’s funny, I’m even more open to adoption than I was before. Because I think to myself, ‘I love Duke so much, if I couldn’t take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him.’ ”
Rancic is currently taking cancer suppressing medication which affects her weight and his out at body critics, who have labelled her "disgustingly skinny".
Giuliana is adamant she does not have a problem with food, although she admits she is very slim. She went to see a doctor after becoming concerned because although her appetite is healthy and she eats a great deal, she doesn't gain any weight.
"Some people were saying, 'The cancer is probably back,'" she explained.
"And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, 'God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.'"
