Gigi Hadid's mother Yolanda hints at daughter's engagement to Zayn Malik after 25th birthday celebrations
Yolanda Hadid hinted at an engagement between daughter Gigi Hadid after she called boyfriend Zayn Malik her son.
The former One Direction singer has been dating the 22-year-old supermodel since November 2015 after striking up a romance within weeks of Gigi's split from former flame and DNCE hitmaker Joe Jonas.
Engagement rumours have constantly surrounded the couple, but it looks like the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star may have made a telling slip up in a new interview.
Speaking to People magazine on Friday, the 53-year-old gushed about her daughter's blossoming romance with the singer.
“He’s my son too now! I have four kids now,” Yolanda said, adding that he’s a “sweetheart” and she’s a “big supporter” of his music career.
Pressed about any possible engagement, she was coy in her reply: “I can’t say anything about that, you know, that’s their journey. But, you know, I love him so, we’ll see.”
Zayn celebrated his 25th birthday in New York over the weekend where Gigi took the opportunity to praise him on Instagram alongside a compilation of her favourite pictures of her long-term love.
She wrote: "Love this man more than I could ever put into words, & am inspired by his drive to be and do better everyday cheers to YOUR YEAR my @zayn - happiest happiest birthday & 25th year of life !! I’m proud to be by your side x (sic)."
It comes just two months after their two-year anniversary in November, when 22-year-old Gigi took to social media once again to show off a snap of the pair sharing a smooch while she held onto a glass of champagne complete with a strawberry on top.
