Gerald and Lisa have a quiet night in
They do sometimes stay in, you know. Not often, I'll grant you. But even when Gerald Kean and his fiancee Lisa Murphy have a night in, it is invariably not a quiet night in.
This might have something to do with the fact that the virtual palace they call home in county Wicklow is none other than the suitably stately Drayton Manor - a place that is to dinner parties what Bono is to free music in your iTunes account, whether you want it or not.
For instance Gerald and Lisa recently hosted a slap-up dinner in the Manor for his Excellency the British Ambassador to Ireland Dominick Chilcott and his wife Jane.
His Excellency Mr Kean and Lady Lisa's dinner parties at Drayton are the stuff of legend. Even if they do tell me themselves. And the Thursday night bash in the Manor no less so.
Twenty guests attended, among them: Gerald's teenage daughter, Kirsten; Roz Flanagan, one-time star of TV3's much-lamented reality TV show Dublin Wives, and husband Vincent; Dr Conor O'Brien and rugby player Leo Cullen.
Then, last Saturday, Gerald and Lisa took the night off to go to a dinner party in Foxrock hosted by someone else: step forward in her designer-pinny, Ann Marie Nohl.
The following morning, Gerald and Lisa flew with Kirsten, to England to watch their beloved Manchester United beat Queens Park Rangers 4-0 at Old Trafford. (This was in between Gerald and Lisa attending the Ladies Rotary Lunch in Wicklow and playing in a charity golf outing with a dinner afterwards in Quinlan's in Clondalkin)
This Friday, Lord and Lady Drayton are at the Barrettstown Founders' Lunch in Royal Kilmainham Hospital. I feel like a night in a hospital myself after all that.
