George and Amal Clooney 'counting down the days' ahead of twins' arrival
George and Amal Clooney are "counting down the days" ahead of the arrival of their twins.
It was announced in February that the pair are expecting a boy and a girl and, according to reports, human rights lawyer Amal is due "very soon."
"They're counting down [the days] and pretty much at the edge of their seats," a source told E! News.
"Every day, one of them is like, 'It's going to be today. I can feel it' and then it doesn't happen."
The source added that Amal (39) is "healthy, excited and looking forward to becoming a mother."
"She is taking it very easy. She's officially on maternity leave now."
As the due date approaches, the couple are settling in Amal's native England, at their €12m Sonning mansion, to be closer to her family.
The couple, who wed in Venice in 2014, have been busy renovating their Oxfordshire home in recent months, but have reportedly avoided decorating their nursery.
And while George revealed in February that they would be avoiding conflict zones like South Sudan or Iraq when they become parents, Amal will continue her work - which includes representing Nobel Peace Prize nominee Nadia Murad in a case against Isis - when she returns from maternity leave.
"She plans to be back at work around six months after giving birth, but her schedule will be greatly different than before - a lot of time spent working at home. She has a great office setup at the Sonning house," an insider told Us Weekly.
