Game Of Thrones has been renewed for two more seasons.

The news came as season 4, which was simulcast in the US and in the UK on Sky Atlantic, kicked off earlier this week.

In the US, the fantasy drama, starring Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey and Kit Harington, received the highest audience for an HBO show since the Sopranos finale.

The show's official Facebook page said: "Raise a glass of Dornish wine. Game Of Thrones is renewed for Seasons 5 and 6.

"Send a raven and spread the word across the realm."

The US show is based on George R. R. Martin's series of fanstasy novels, A Song Of Ice And Fire .
