Fair City star George McMahon has dash to hospital as girlfriend Rachel Smyth gives birth 11 days early
Fair City star George McMahon and his girlfriend Rachel Smyth have welcomed their first baby.
Their little daughter Frankie arrived 11 days early at the Rotunda Hospital on Friday, weighing just 5lb 4oz, according to the Sunday World.
George and Rachel have been dating for the past two years and George, who plays Mondo on the hit RTE soap, told the publication that he's "over the moon".
"Rachel came up with the name Frankie," he said, "I don't know where she got it from, but the closest thing we can think of is we're telling people she named her after the Pope."
He revealed that he was sent home from the hospital while Rachel was in the early stages of labour but had to rush back after a phonecall said the baby was finally on the way.
George is taking seven weeks leave from Fair City to enjoy the new arrival and joked that his family were slagging him over the real life pregnancy and his 'Who's the daddy?' storyline on the show.
As the story played out on Fair City with Mondo and Decco both possibly the father of Kerri Ann's baby, the couple were enjoying the pregnancy in real life.
"It was really funny as we were pregnant in real life and my aunts and uncles were slagging me, going, 'I hope this is yours'," he said.
