Erica Stoll made her first public appearance since her no expense spared wedding to Irish golfer in April , fittingly to cheer him on at the Irish Open.

The New York native (29) was dressed in her trademark style, with her new platinum wedding band on show, adding to her €600,000 engagement ring. Never one to seek out the limelight, Stoll opted for her signature baseball cap and wrapped up in a Barbour wax jacket, accessorising with a pair of solitaire diamond earrings and an infinity bracelet from Tiffany & Co.

The McIlroys are in his native Northern Ireland as the golf superstar competes at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Portstewart Golf Club in Co Derry, and she was seen supporting her new husband with Team Rory from the sidelines.

Since their lavish nuptials at Ashford Castle in Mayo, the pair have kept a remarkably low profile, until earlier this week when Rory revealed he gave his wife control of his Twitter account after a regrettable tweet, which came to a head after a war of words with 1995 PGA championship winner Steve Elkington.

The Australian claimed Rory was bored with the game and added: "Without Tiger the threshold is prolly (probably) four majors with 100mill in the bank."

A furious McIlroy responded with a tweet which said his bank balance was more like $200m and added: "Not bad for a 'bored' 28-year-old… plenty more where that came from."

Rory later said: "I must have wrote that tweet and deleted it about five times before I actually sent it. I sort of regretted sending it at the end. I actually gave my wife Erica my phone and my Twitter and said change my password to something else and don't tell me what it is."
